Abstract
Tribhuvan Kirti Ras is one of the Kharaliya Rasayan, which is widely used for various ailments like Jwara, Romantika & Kaphapradhana Shotha. Its main contents Cinnabar, Aconitum ferox Wall, & Datura metel are included under Vishadravyas. These days’ numbers of pharmaceutical companies are manufacturing Tribhuvan Kirti [TK]. As this formulation contains poisonous drugs which may cause acute or cumulative toxicity and may have deleterious effects in human body. It is routine practice to use these Vishadravyas after proper Shodhana, to overcome their toxicity. So a carefully planned analytical study was carried out for analysis of market samples & selfmade sample to confirm its gentility. In this study four samples out of which one self-made sample Shudhha Tribhuvan Kirti Ras [STK] & three market preparation DP, U, SD were studied using thin layer chromatography & water extractive value. TLC plates were visualised under 254 & 366nm. UV rays and spraying Dragandorff’s reagent & further Sodium Nitrite on the plates already sprayed with Dragandorff’s reagent, shows that all market samples are matched with lab prepared sample. Hence it was found that all these samples of TK were authentic.
