Abstract
The article is devoted to the new wave of self-determination referendums that almost has shaken the whole Europe in 2014. It was found the impact of external and internal factors of self-determination referendums wave reactivation, their possible consequences, which can lead to emergence a number of new states/state-like entities (both recognized and unrecognized by the international community). The study was conducted by using the case-study method and comparative analysis. It was determined that the reasons that motivate ethno-national minorities to seek ways for improving their status and condition and ways itself may be quite different. One of these ways is self-determination referendums.
