THE BLOOD SERUM LEVELS OF ALUMINIUM AND LEAD IN PATIENTS WITH MILD AND MODERATE SEVERITY OF CRANIOCEREBRAL TRAUMA IN ACUTE AND INTERMEDIATE PERIODS

Abstract

Aim. Pathogenesis of the craniocerebral trauma is multifaceted and motivated by the development of endogenous intoxication, leading to accumulation ofvarious transitive and final products of metabolism in the body, including toxic metals. Understanding of basic pathology of intoxication by aluminium and lead helps to develop methods of early diagnostics, as well as means of prevention and treatment.The aim is to the changes in the levels of aluminium and lead in the blood serum of patients with mild and moderate brain injury in acute and transitive periods. Materials and Methods. The amount of aluminium and lead in the blood serum was measured in 283 patients with brain injury by method of atomic absorption on the spectrophotometer along with using air-acetylene flame. Results and Discussion. Considering visible changes in the content of toxic elements in the blood serum in patients with brain injury of mild and moderate severity in acute and transitive periods, it is possible to confirm metabolic changes in the tissue of brain, suppression of the endothelial function of vessels and intensification of the processes of apoptosis. In our opinion, the studied patients' endothelial dysfunction may be considered a marker of vessel pathology. Conclusions. The examination of the amount of lead and aluminium in the blood serum in patients with mild and moderate brain injury in acute and transitive periods may be used as a diagnostic and prognostic criterion of the traumatic disease of brain, its pathogenesis. and for examination purposes.
