Coins from the City of Ken-Bulun in Kyrgyzstan (from excavations in 2022–2023 and random finds from previous years)

Abstract

As part of the project of the institute of archaeology named after. A.Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation and the Institute of history, archaeology and ethnology named after. B. Dzhamgerchinova NAS KR, since 2021, research has been carried out at the Ken-Bulun site. Works 2022 and 2023 two excavations -Ex-1 and Ex-2 - yielded stratified collections of artifacts, including coins (34 units), which are the subject of study in this article. The article also examines coins from random finds of previous years, given to the authors by local residents, one previously published coin, and the authors' collections from the surface of the site during field research. A total of 50 coins of different types are analyzed, of which 49 are stored at the institute of atomic energy of the national academy of sciences of the kyrgyz republic. Most of the coins found are copper-lead dirhams of the karakhanid dynasty. 11th century a small number of earlier issues and the absence of mongolian coins limit the chronological scope of the existence of the settlement 10th – early 13th centuries.
