Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of media contexts on the Arab Spring from the perspective of students enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism and Media at Yarmouk University. Additionally, it seeks to determine if there are any statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) regarding the opinions of the sampled individuals concerning the various dimensions of the study related to the political, military and humanitarian dimension. The study sample comprises 200 students from the Faculty of Press and Media at Yarmouk University. The researchers employed a descriptive analytical approach, leading to several findings. It was observed that the political, humanitarian, and military aspects of the Arab Spring were perceived to a moderate extent. Furthermore, the study did not identify any statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) concerning the opinions of the sampled individuals regarding media contexts related to the Arab Spring within the political, humanitarian, and military domains. These findings held true across gender, educational background, and qualification. Based on the results obtained from both theoretical and empirical research, this study recommends a closer examination of how mass media utilize their platforms to perpetuate political propaganda, emphasizing the importance of honesty and objectivity in media reporting.
