Abstract
The emergence and development of weeds in maize was controlled by pre-emergence application of Atrazine @ 2.0 kg a.i./ha and its combination with mechanical weeding at 45 days after sowing, which resulted in best inhibition of emergence of Parthenium hysterophorus L. In maize, it resulted in least weed population and dry weight, maximum grain yield and yield attributes with maximum net return and benefit :cost ratio.
