Abstract

The article examines the origin of the ethnonyms of the Sklavina. Based on ancient primary sources, analysis of historical information and geographical features of the area of settlement of the Sklavins, it was established that the ethnonym appeared in the Celtic-speaking environment and designated people living on the plateau and among the swamps. Initially, the inhabitants of the Ciscarpathian region and the Pinsk swamps began to be called Sklavins.
