Abstract
The study investigated the impact of alcohol/ethanol ingestion on lawyers' recall of essential materials. Seventy-five lawyers, aged 27-59, from Awka, Onitsha, and Nnewi, Anambra state, Nigeria, were divided into two groups: those who were given alcohol/ethanol and those who were given non-alcohol/ethanol. The experiment involved an independent group design with an audio recorder, red label brandy, La Casera soft drink, and a poem CD. Participants were expected to listen, memorise, and recall keywords. The Z-test was used for analysis, and results showed no significant impact of alcohol/ethanol on immediate recall of meaningful materials between alcohol/ethanol Lawyer consumers. The study found no significant impact of alcohol/ethanol on delayed recall of meaningful materials, immediate recall, or delayed recall across lawyers' genders. However, there was a significant difference in the extent of delayed recall outcomes across lawyers' genders. The study recommends installing alcohol detectors in all courtrooms to eliminate its influence on judiciary deliberations
