Abstract
Arab Gulf countries have experienced significant challenges in meeting their needs for water security. In this article, the six countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council are studied, namely Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Using a qualitative research methodology, we conducted a comprehensive assessment to study and evaluate the emerging drivers of water security in the region. The investigated drivers of water security include economic growth, population growth, water usage, extreme natural events, and political stability. The results suggest that all these countries are facing water resource insecurity, anemic water reforms, and weak management strategies
