Abstract
The Bhopal Gas Tragedy of December 2-3, 1984, is widely regarded as the world's worst industrial disaster, caused by the release of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas from a pesticide plant owned by Union Carbide Corporation. This paper aims to analyze the long-term public health impacts on the residents of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, following the disaster. The study examines immediate health effects, chronic health conditions, mental health impacts, and the effectiveness of healthcare and rehabilitation efforts over the past decades.
