Abstract
The article delves into the analysis of Spanish-language media discourse from a cognitive-discursive perspective, focusing on the modelling of the DIVERSIDAD / DIVERSITY concept. Taking a specific scientific article on Netflix movie streaming as a case study, the author endeavours to trace how the knowledge embedded in Spanish media is conveyed into Russian. The relevance of the study lies in its exploration of cognitive-discursive analysis and its application to both pre-translation and post-translation analysis. The primary objective is to synthesise the understanding of cognitive-discursive analysis by modelling the key concept and examining its linguistic implementation. In the theoretical framework, the article discusses significant scientific works on cognitive linguistics, elucidating key theoretical concepts. Additionally, it delineates the specificity of media discourse and introduces the concept of audio-visual content. The practical component involves constructing a conceptual framework for the DIVERSIDAD concept based on the source material, followed by the distribution of language representational frame slots through semantic analysis. Subsequent to the translation of the scientific paper from Spanish into Russian, the integrated framework of the DIVERSIDAD / DIVERSITY concept is modelled, elucidating disparities in the verbal representation of scientific knowledge about media in both languages. The methodology encompasses various scientific methods including description, analysis, synthesis, modelling, abstraction, generalisation, induction, and deduction. Moreover, it integrates cognitive-discursive analysis by amalgamating frame modelling with definitional, component, and interpretive analysis techniques.
