Abstract

Introduction. Twelve regional scientific and educational mathematical centres (RCEMC) supported by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science have been established and operate in 8 federal districts, including the Donetsk People's Republic. The RCEMC activities are aimed at enhancing the quality of specialist training in mathematics and related sciences through engaging students and young professionals in academic and research projects and initiatives. The centres' research and educational missions involve setting up a unified educational environment that integrates general higher education, supplementary education, and science throughout the educational trajectory (school — university — postgraduate studies — early career stages). Monitoring Tools. The methods used in the course of the work include analysis, synthesis, and systems approach. The primary sources of information for analysis have been RCEMC organisations' annual reporting and analytical data of the Russian Research Institute of Economics, Politics and Law in Science and Technology (RIEPL). Results. Monitoring of the RCEMC activities throughout 2023 has been conducted. Comparison of the target and actual outcomes is presented based on such criteria as the number of articles published in internationally indexed journals, implementation of scientific and educational events, and staff development. The RCEMC activities in 2023 indicate that 11 centres operate smoothly, meeting or closely approaching their targets. The Azov-Black Sea Mathematics Centre displayed modest results in terms of educational courses and modules offered, scientific events (conferences, workshops, master classes, congresses) and educational activities (schools, math tournaments, contests, etc.), with involvement of school students, held, and the headcount of the centre's staff (including leading scientists and young researchers under 39 years old). Conclusion. The RCEMC activities are expected to soon foster a new generation of young mathematicians who will advance Russian science and education in mathematics, computer science, and natural sciences. Continued operation of the RCEMCs over the next 10–15 years is anticipated to significantly improve mathematical and IT education, positively impacting the regional life and activities.
