Presentation of Archives by Means of Philately: Buildings of Archival Institutions, Temples, Castles

The purpose of the article is to present philatelic signs, which depict the buildings of archival institutions, as well as temples, monasteries and castles, where archival collections were or are now stored. In addition, stamps dedicated to persons involved in the creation of archives and the preservation of historical documents are involved. Research methodology. Given the specifics of the study, an important place is given to the methods of visual history, as well as special philatelic methods. To solve the research tasks, general scientific methods were used: analysis and synthesis, classification, retrospection; as well as special historical methods: comparative-historical, historical analysis, biographical, problem-chronological, and structural-systemic. The scientific novelty. For the first time, the discovery and study of art postage stamps, artistic stamped envelopes, envelopes with the original stamp, postal blocks, card maximums, stamp prints (special cancellation), etc., the subject of which is the image of the places of storage of archival documents, was carried out. These marks were officially issued by the state post office and recognized by the International Federation of Philately. Conclusions. The proposed research acquaints readers with philatelic signs that have images of objects that served in the past and are intended today for the preservation of the archival heritage of Ukraine. They are an important historical source with significant information potential, which expands our knowledge about the places of storage of the historical heritage of the Ukrainian people, etc. Prospects for further research. Work continues on the identification and study of postage marks dedicated to the personalities of archivists, personalities of famous figures who have made a significant contribution to archival affairs; associations; international archival congresses, which were attended by representatives of Ukrainian archives.
