Abstract
Leaf spring used for vehicle to support the entire weight of vehicle, to provide passenger comfort by absorbing shocks and vibrations, to control axle damping. But steel leaf spring having higher weight (Up to 10–20% of the overall unsprung weight of the vehicle) and major Challenge is to reduce the weight of leaf spring by maintaining its properties. Hence composite material used instead of steel leaf spring as it is light in weight, its extensive properties like high strength, high stiffness, corrosion resistance, low density, high fracture and good toughness. Design analysis done for conventional steel leaf spring, composite E glass and Glass fiber leaf spring to calculate and compare the static properties through ANSYS software.
