Examining the Status of Citizenship in Iran's Law

Abstract
Citizenship is one of the important legal terms that entered the Iranian legal system in the last one or two centuries. Citizenship is a political, legal, social and spiritual relationship that existed or was created between a natural or legal person and a government, which makes both the government and individuals have rights and obligations towards each other. In the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, principles 41 and 42 emphasize that Iranian citizenship is the inalienable right of every Iranian citizen. Many of the rules included in Iran's citizenship law included in the civil law have been established in accordance with the individual and social conditions at the time these laws were approved in Iran, and the legislator considered the most suitable solution for the problems of that day. In this research, we seek to examine the legal restrictions in the field of acquiring or withdrawing Iranian citizenship. The findings show: the presence of many foreign nationals in Iran, as well as the presence of many Iranians abroad and the marriage of Iranian and non-Iranian nationals has made the issue of citizenship in Iranian law face new challenges and the implementation of the principle of multiple citizenship is justified in some cases. made.
