Abstract
The Floating tablets of Glyburide were prepared by granulation technique based on effervescent approach. HPMC and polyethylene oxide were used as polymer, for gas generation sodium bicarbonate was used. Talc, avicel, and magnesium stearate were used. In the present study, on the basis of results it was concluded that with increase in the concentration of polymers decrease the drug release profile. On the other hand there was no effect on release of drug by changing the HPMC viscosity grades. Increased sodium bicarbonate concentration can decrease the floating lag time and there is no significant change on drug release profile. So by using appropriate concentration of polymer and sodium bicarbonate can develop sustained release floating tablet.
