Abstract

The theoretical aspects of innovation and technological development in agriculture are studied. It is noted that the innovative system of innovations, which includes agricultural enterprises, is the basis for the innovative development of the industry. The decisive influence on the innovative development of agriculture is exerted by scientific research, development and implementation of their practical activities. The peculiarities of innovative development and technological progress in agriculture are highlighted and their difference from other sectors of the national economy is proved. A classification of innovations in agriculture is presented according to the following features: subject and scope of application, degree of novelty of innovations, depth of changes, form of implementation of innovations, direction of use, period of implementation, origin, cost, sources of financing, and degree of risk. The necessity of managing innovation projects in agriculture in order to increase productivity is substantiated. The key elements of managing innovative projects in the agricultural sector are identified. The main strategy for the innovative development of agricultural enterprises is the globalization strategy, the main directions of which are: development of new markets, pricing, assortment policy, advertising, production and processing of products, etc. The main trends in the agricultural sector that affect companies and according to which new innovative projects are being developed and implemented are identified, including: the Internet of Things, robotics, artificial intelligence, drones, precision farming, agricultural biotechnology, big data and analytics, controlled environment farming, regenerative agriculture, and communication technologies. Current business trends in agriculture and relevant promising innovative projects are analyzed.
