Abstract
The article examines the role of cognitive activity in the development of a primary school student's personality. Various approaches to defining this concept, closely related to both the student's personality traits and the activity characteristics of the learning process, are analyzed. The prerequisites and levels of development of children's cognitive activity are identified, and the reasons for the low development of this active state are considered.
