Abstract

The purpose of the project is togenerate electrical energy from the evaluation of the applicability of two renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind energy, for use in the library of the Campus of the Universidad Privada del Valle, thus partially creating economic savings and contribution to the environment. The analysis of solar radiation, wind speed and weather conditions of the librarywere monitored at an altitude of 2648msnm, latitude of -17.3346, longitude of -66.2159, temperature 25 C, presented an average radiation of 5.1 Kwh / m2 and an average wind speed of 4 m / s, at a height of 18 meters. These values allowed combinations that cover the two renewable energies according to the demand 39847 Kwh of the library, leading to determiningthe type of system that presents greater feasibility for its application. The photovoltaic energy is the most suitable for its implementation due to the cost of producing it being this of 0.55 Bs/Kwh, wind energy having a cost of 1.17 Bs/Kwh which represents a value well above the current cost that is canceled of 0.91 Bs/Kwh so after this was dismissed the wind resource was dismissed. With these results the PVsyst software, showed as a result a coverage of 82% of the total demand of 39847 Kwh with a cost of 0.55 Bs/kwh, the useful life of the system is 25 years based on the specifications indicated by the suppliers of the equipment in their technical sheets. The total investment of the system is US$ 38278 with a recovery of 6 years. Demonstrating that the project is feasible for implementation.
