Abstract
This article presents the design and implementation of a haptic simulator with augmented reality that promotes the integration of knowledge and psychomotor skills throughvirtual training in procedures such as appendectomy and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The project consists of two fundamental parts: a haptic device and software for augmented reality in the simulator. The haptic device provides the physical interface with which the simulator is manipulated, while the software provides the virtual representation of the movements made during the simulation. For the validation of the project, a pilot test was carried out in which five Medicinestudents participated in virtual training during five individual sessions, which were evaluated in an objective and standardized way for each of the procedures performed with the simulator. In conclusion, the project stands out for its low cost, easy handling of the system and the realism in the models presented during the simulation. All these featuresencourage deliberate and repetitive practice of surgical procedures and translate into a better learning rate for students.
