Abstract
This article explores the socio-economic and class dynamics present in the works of the renowned Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez. Through a Marxist lens, the study examines how García Márquez's novels critique the capitalist structures, power imbalances, and social hierarchies that pervade Latin American society. The analysis focuses on three of his most significant works: One Hundred Years of Solitude, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, and Love in the Time of Cholera. Throughout the paper, García Márquez's critique of authoritarianism, corruption, and imperialism is discussed, revealing his nuanced understanding of the socio-political landscape of Latin America. By situating individual narratives within broader historical and economic contexts, the study provides a comprehensive Marxist interpretation of García Márquez's literary oeuvre, demonstrating how his novels serve as both a reflection and a critique of the socio-economic realities of his time.
