Abstract
Modern Russian-language prose of Kazakhstan, which has emerged at the intersection of multiple cultures, literatures, and languages, is the subject of interdisciplinary scientific reflection. The phenomenon of Russian-language prose as a product of a translingual author is discussed from the perspectives of the latest paradigms in linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, and psychology. The scope of this study includes the interpretation of common idiostylistic features found in Russian-language authors, which characterize Russian-language prose as a whole. The study takes into account the peculiarities of translingual authors, including the synthesis of Eastern and Western thinking, which is manifested in linguistic creativity, the creation of occasionalisms and the author’s new language, as well as special metaphoricity, which involves the fusion of Eastern and Western conceptual image associations. Additionally, this study explores the genre syncretism of the novel form, as determined by the rejection of traditional formulas, and the selection of specific themes and motifs associated with the traumatic past of Soviet realities. The identification, analytical interpretation, and comparison of the idiostyles of authors of Russian-language literature of Kazakhstan will require the use of hermeneutic commentary methods aimed at reconstructing the artistic meanings of the text and their interpretation, as well as cognitive methodology to describe the author’s linguistic personality, the mechanisms behind the creation of unique complex cognitive images, and the description of the cognitive motivation behind the protagonist’s actions, as well as the characterization of speech and thought processes that influence the choice of specific stylistic and artistic techniques. It is revealed that the Russian-language prose of Kazakhstan is characterized by the genre syncretism of the novel form, the quest for identity and detachment from Soviet realities, typological convergences in the motif structure of narratives (such as motifs of transformation, reincarnation, time travel, eschatological motifs that depict a post-apocalyptic future and the onset of madness, and the motif of loneliness, which characterizes the uniqueness of the protagonist), active word creation, linguistic creativity, and the use of vocabulary with a national-cultural component.
