Increase the living standard of vegetable growers through bottlegaurd cultivation in district Shahjahanpur

Abstract
From last five years Krishi Vigyan Kendra has organized various trainings, kisan goshties and other extension activities for increasing the area and production of bottlegaurd cultivation in district Shahjahanpur. A survey was conducted in the month of August 2013 in Sindhauli block district Shahjahanpur to study the adoption of bottlegaurd farming. The survey was carried out in randomly selected 50 farmers belonging to vegetable cultivation i.e. bottlegaurd, cauliflowers, cabbage, brinjal, tomato and chilli etc. A well structured interview schedule was prepared for the farmers and the information was collected from all respondent of vegetable growers and from each farmer face to face interview were taken i.e. individual farmer discussion was done. The result of survey revealed that the adoption of main vegetable crops were bottlegaurd (38.53%), cauliflower (21.40%), and brinjal (30.69%) in respected areas. The economic analysis of bottlegaurd crop revealed that the cost of cultivation was Rs. 26425/- in one acre area and got boosting average yields 153.6 Quintal in one acre area. The net profit of these farmers was Rs. 99,600/- in one acre area. These farmers were very much impressed with the profit of bottlegaurd vegetable crop that raised their family income. The farmers of the same villages and nearby villages get motivated and adopted bottlegaurd farming in the District Shahjahanpur.
