Abstract
In this research, the governing equation for wave diffraction at a breakwater gap is formulated. The equation is derived by substituting the three-dimensional velocity potential—obtained as the solution to the Laplace equation—into the Laplace equation, under the condition that there is a variation or differential in the wave constants. The resulting equation is a second-order partial differential equation with respect to one of the wave constants.
