Abstract

Currently, teaching a foreign language is becoming an increasingly important and integral part of the educational process in primary schools. Simultaneous teaching of several languages is becoming relevant all over the world for many reasons, namely: the formation of communication skills, the development of cognitive abilities, cultural enrichment, etc. This is due to the fact that pre-school and primary school ages are the most favourable for starting to learn foreign languages. The first years of school play a crucial role, because it is during this period that the foundation is laid for successful and natural language acquisition. The relevance of the article lies in the growing interest in online materials that make a significant contribution to the process of teaching foreign languages at an early school age. New online materials on teaching native and foreign languages are constantly being published on the Internet. In this regard, teachers and the staff members of the Educational Research Association “Izh-Logos” have developed and tested online materials for children of this age. The multilingual Olympiad “Young Polyglot” has become an effective tool for monitoring the quality of language education. It makes it possible to assess and adjust the level of language and communication competencies of learners, and the analysis of the quality of education will stimulate innovative activities in educational institutions. The aim of the article is to develop a methodology for assessing the effectiveness of the “Young Polyglot” Olympiad in teaching foreign and national languages. The article analyses online materials of the ERA “Izh-Logos” including language exercises, art simulators, the mitten theater. In addition, the results of the Multilingual Olympiad “Young Polyglot”, held annually in the period 2017-2025 in the traditional format at the Udmurt State University, are analysed and presented.
