Abstract
It is proved that the usage of synchronous motors as reactive-load compensation devices in electric power systems is no economically nor technically efficient. Their activity loss at nominal voltage of 6 kV exceeds 166 times the capacitor installation's loss with the same voltage. The example calculation is provided in the study.
