Abstract

The authors describe language interference in the Russian speech of Kazakhs and the Kazakh speech of Russians in the context of a mass bilingualism that has developed in modern Kazakhstan. the most important problem areas of Kazakh-Russian and Russian-Kazakh bilingualism caused by the structural and typological features of the Russian (inflectional) and Kazakh (agglutinative) languages are considered. examples of errors in the Russian speech of the Kazakh-Russian bilinguals and the Kazakh speech of the Russian-Kazakh bilinguals, caused by the native language interference are given. the results of linguistic study can relevantly be used in the methodology of teaching the Russian language in the context of modern language situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
