Abstract
Indian English Literature (IEL) has had a major impact on the development of society. It has shaped civilizations, changed political systems and exposed injustice. It gives us a detailed preview of human experiences, allowing us to connect on basic levels of desire and emotion. Indian writers in English were deeply influenced by the political, social and ideological ferment. The rise of Indian English fiction represents the cultural perspectives of people. Arundhati Roy, the developing spokesperson of the anti- globalization movement has been a great critic of the many social and political issues that are constantly loitering around our nation Indian. As a novelist she deals with social problems to bring in rapid social awareness. Roy's literary works deal with inequality, economic fairness, acceptance of cultural diversity and participatory democracy. She has also written a collection of essays in which she has presented both political and social issues and raised her voice on many of the controversial political issues to bring revolution. Through her artistic portrayal she becomes the voice of the marginalized in her fictions and non – fictions. "A novel is such a powerful thing because it comes to a radical understanding, only by seeing how these [issues] are folded in to each other and connected to our lives" (Roy). Roy's writing isn't a reporter of human conditions instead a form of activism where she challenges the partiality with human and environment.
