Abstract

The role of family in the formation of women's political attitudes is one of the important aspects in analyzing social influences on individuals' political behavior. The family, as the first and most influential social institution, shapes an individual's political attitudes at different stages of growth and socialization. This article examines the effects of family on women's political attitudes and shows that the family plays an important role in determining women's political positions and electoral tendencies by providing early education, values, beliefs, and social norms. In this regard, family-related policies should be designed in accordance with social needs and developments to not only support women's individual development, but also help strengthen their active political participation in society. Examining these interactions emphasizes the importance of economic, social, and emotional support for women and shows that in many cases, the limitations on family policymaking in Iran prevent the full and free development of women's political attitudes. In addition, different patterns of government-family interaction, especially in the context of family policies, have a great impact on the formation of women's political attitudes. Especially in authoritarian and restrictive patterns, women's political participation is influenced by family values and supervision. Finally, this article emphasizes the importance of reviewing family policies and their impact on women's empowerment in the field of policymaking and social participation.
