Abstract
Purpose. The history оf sturgeon aquaculture industry dates back several centuries. This review aims at covering its major historical milestones. Analysis and systematization of the basic stages of the formation of modern biotechnology of hatchery reproduction of sturgeons is a prerequisite for further successful work on their improvement. Methodology. Analysis and systematization of data from professional literature and information from the Internet. Findings. Results of the research are the conceptualization of main stages of historical development of biotechnology of hatchery reproduction of sturgeon species that contributed to its present level. Originality. Heuristic potential of the research is summarized in a number of methodological trends, as a set of specific algorithms of action and guidelines for hatchery reproduction of sturgeons. Practical value. Wide applicative study may lie in the propaedeutics and as a base for a wider study of the latest developments in the field of hatchery sturgeon culture.
