Abstract
The Vehicle Number Plate Recognition (VNPR) system plays an important role in traffic surveillance systems, such as traffic law enforcement, real time monitoring, parking systems, road monitoring and security systems. The detection and extraction of number plate system is a real time embedded module in which automatically localize the vehicle number plate for further process of reading. The proposed work focus on performance evaluation for different key seed points generation techniques applied for number plate segmentation from vehicle images. Harris corner technique along with combination of region based and threshold technique shows better performance results in terms of computational efficiency and better segmentation. A detailed experimentation is carried out for performance evaluation.
