Abstract
Obesity is important and its affects are not only limited to adults and medical conditions, but also may affect children and adolescents and may have overarching effects on social parameters. Programs to prevent the negative outcomes associated with obesity and its associated social stigmization should be at the forefront. And, lastly, both medical and surgical options to prevent and combat obesity should be investigated as there is often a positive association with an improvement in body mass index and health related quality of life.
