The article is devoted to one aspect of modern linguistics - motive, in particular motivation in color terms. Motivation color lies in its ability to evoke images of objects of the environment, is the prototype of these colors. The article is demonstrated the motivation of color terms by the example in French language. Goal of this article - to show what images, associations, and emotional connotations may pass through color terms
