Abstract
Khakis’ involvement in politics since inception of Pakistan is a reality. It is like cobra venom in the body politic of the country. One who dares to break the teeth of the serpentine has to bear the brunt. Even his life remains under threat if the opposition to the menace crosses certain limit. The fact is that it goes against the democratic political norm. But interestingly the norm the so-called politicians of the country holding in high esteem is negation to the yardstick. The reason is that the politician, majority of whom belonging to feudal class, always look for shortcut. They do not hesitate rather keen to maintain close liaison with the usurpers of political power. But while the source of power i.e., the masses try to flex muscle against the autocratic or despotic rule these politician changing their skin over night come out with the slogan of democracy, of course, with aristocratic touch. This political slogan is, in fact, hollow. It delivers nothing tangible to the electorates though it is claimed that election is the best solution of all ills. It is also claimed that parliament alone is supreme and the other two organs of the state are under its control. But the fact is that neither the parliament, nor the executive nor the judiciary is supreme; it is the people and people alone are supreme.
