Abstract
The results of theoretical, laboratory and industrial investigations of hot metal desulphurization with magnesium have been analyzed. It has been shown that the change of magnesium solubility in hot metal does not essentially influence metal desulphurization efficiency. When injecting of granulated magnesium in hot metal using argon or nitrogen as carrier gas some increase of desulfurator utilization efficiency can be achieved as a result of decrease of magnesium concentration in transport gas
