Abstract
The character of changes of hardness and fine structure parameters of quenched carbon steel during deformation by rolling is investigated. It is found that the degree of softened of steel at rolling is caused by balance of processes of decomposition of a supersaturated solid solution and work-hardening due to additionally entered dislocations
