Abstract
By means of experimental investigation determined was energy-consumption of non-ferrous metals and shown that it takes quite high values are significantly lower (up to 30) than the compressive strength of the material, especially when abraded. The fraction of the energy of cutting expended to overcome friction rear surface of the instrument with the processed materials, a 2-fold or more higher than the share of energy ?clean cutting?. Substantiated were the conditions of transition from the process of plastic deformation of the material to the process of cutting
