OBSERVATIONAL STUDY TO FIND LOCATION OF GULPHA MARMA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ANKLE SPRAIN

Ayurved is an ancient science of life. In Ayurveda Ayu means life is defined as conjunction of body, soul, mind and senses. Each has been given due importance in the maintenance of health and to cure and prevent the diseases. Everybody is impressed by the vast conceptual canvas and frame work of Ayurveda. Principle of Ayurveda which are interwoven with basic concept of life has significant value even in the life of modern era. According to Sushruta size of Gulpha Marma is stated 2 anguli pramana, but the exact landmark of Gulpha Marma where it is situated at Gulpha sandhi is not described. It is very important to find out actual location of Gulpha marma. If it is clear that what is the exact location of Gulpha Marma then so many treatment methods can be done easily and successfully for e.g. Siravedha and Agnikarma as well as certain surgical procedures on ankle joint. For better result & minimum complication this research work is a sincere effort to find out measures which would ideally offer the knowledge of Gulpha Marma in shorter time for better treatment of diseases of ankle region. Thus this dissertation is the small effort in the field of Ayurveda by studying the normal anatomy of Gulpha Marma and its Rujakaratva W.S.R to Ankle Sprain. One can easily put a relation between the two, through Ayurvedic view and this will be helpful for future researches, Academicians, Students and practitioners of Ayurveda to treat the To understand this concept of Marma and to prove it according modern science we have to prove it practically by showing its exact anatomical position, its location, what kind of internal structures involves in it so that these are called as a vital points. Therefore through this research work, it is an effort to specify and locate exact anatomical position of Gulpha Marma through dissection on cadaver and try to find out which kind of internal structures specifically present. With the help of all this study, it is an attempt to present a proper guideline for surgical and medical management of ankle sprain and also many treatment methods like Siravedha, Agnikarma etc. can be done harmlessly.
