Abstract
This study investigated the strategies that pre-service teachers used for solving linear equations with one variable and the errors that pre-service teachers made. Data were collected from a test that consisted of 6 linear equations. The 51 pre-service teachers who participated in this study were asked to solve linear equations and show their work. The errors made in solving each linear question were recorded. The results of the study indicated that the participants in this study relied on only one strategy, the standard strategy, for solving linear equations
