Abstract

The aim of investigation was to assess the significance of lipid misbalance in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) with revealed diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2. Method. We observed 40 patients with MS (19 ? MS with DM, 21 ? MS without DM). Complex clinical and laboratory investigation, statistical analysis were performed. Results. In patients suffering from MS with DM high levels of total cholesterol were confirmed (6,32±0,29; 5,11±0,18 mmol/l, p<0,01). All of patients demonstrated normal levels of LDLP but in cases of MS with DM type 2 concentration was higher (4,3±0,25; 3,5±0,18 mmol/l, p<0,05). Levels of triglycerides were equal (p>0,05). As to HDLP the same relation in groups was revealed (1,18±0,01 и 3,5±0,18 mmol/l, p>0,05). Conclusion. There are significant changes of the lipid metabolism in patients with MS at the moment of diagnosis of DM type 2. Despite normal concentrations of HDLP and LDLP the relation of indexes can inform about specific subclinical disturbances in vascular wall before DM manifestation. All of patients with initial signs of MS must be observed, and complex laboratory and instrumental examination including lipid spectrum detection should be performed.
