Abstract
Factors influencing the kinetics of fatigue cracks development in the base metal and welded joints are analysedin the first part of the article. The results of the variable bending tests allowed to establish a linear dependence, between a reverse value of crack growth and its relative length, which makes if possible to evaluate simply enough the degree of influence of residual stresses on service life of welded joints
