Teachers' Opinions about the Updated Secondary Mathematics Curriculum

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the opinions of mathematics teachers working in high schools on the high school mathematics curriculum that was reformed in 2013. Structured interview method was employed to collect data from nine high school teachers. Content and descriptive analysis were used to analyze the data obtained from the interviews with teachers. Based on the qualitative analysis of data, the teachers favored the reduction in the content and acquisition regulation, but criticized some eliminated content and acceptance the level of readiness of students. The teachers believed the benefit of using compass-straightedge, information and communication technologies. Furthermore, the teachers expected more professional development opportunities, particularly on the use of technology for teaching mathematics before they are hold accountable for the implementation of the new curriculum.
