Abstract

With today’s increasing communication infrastructure, traffic of data networks fluctuates heavily, which results the sudden degradation of service. Handling of such busty and unpredictable traffic demands is a key issue. Such unpredictable traffic also disrupts the efficient usage of network resources. Hence this paper an efficient traffic engineering and management system is proposed which performs unpredictable traffic control using virtual routing topologies. This proposed system contains two components: offline link weight optimization (OLWO) and adaptive traffic control (ATC). OLWO takes physical network topology as input and produces maximum routing path diversity through optimized link weights. An ATC takes these diverse paths as input and intelligently split the incoming traffic across individual routing topologies. Since the data communication networks are prone to attacks proposed system also incorporates the security in order to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the information.
