Abstract
Most current routing protocols for MANET selects the shortest path with minimum hop count as the optimal route. However the path selected by AODV does not consider many aspects while selecting the path. As MANET consists of the nodes capable of moving and communicates through wireless medium, the link breaks in the network are very frequent due to the mobility of the nodes, due to which the data drop occurs at the intermediate nodes, which degrades the QoS(Quality of Service) of the networks. Also choosing less stable paths can lead to higher routing overhead because whenever the path breaks a new request is issued in the network for route discovery in AODV. So it is very necessary to select paths with higher stability, so that the routes can withstand the mobility of the nodes which causes frequent paths breaks. Therefore in this paper we have done comparison of reactive protocols.
