Abstract

At present studying of the functioning of detoxification systems is very relevant taking into account today’s anthropogenic load. The functional state of the enzyme xenobiotic detoxification system and antioxidant stress (glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase and glutathione-S- transferase) was studied on indicators of blood serum of 60 long livers (study group) and 30 mature individuals having no long livers in their family trees (control group). Having investigated enzymes of glutathione it was found that glutathione peroxidase activity in the group of long livers was 0.329±0.18 mmol/(min?mg), (study group), and? 0.353±0.17 mmol/(min?mg), (control group). Thus, the received results show that almost the same activity of glutathione-S-transferase was found in both groups, the activity of glutathione reductase enzyme in long livers was 3.17 times higher as compared to those of mature age. Our studies showed that the activity of glutathione reductase and glutathione-S-transferase in the long livers was (0.219±0.12) and (0.305±0.31) mmol/(min?mg) (see table); in the control group - (0.069±0.05) and (0.345±0.18) mmol/(min?mg) respectively.
