Abstract
The printing and circulation of religious books in Basarabia, through the medium of the Church, had a decisive role in consolidating the resistance of Romanian priests to russification, the teaching and bettering of the people, but also the maintenance of a cultural religious exchange on both banks of the Prut. An important aspect in describing and particularizing books is represented by the handwritten notes identified on the pages of the studied exemplars, notes that have a special significance in understanding the life of the communities that owned this cultural and heritage items. The notes are another way to know the life of those who owned or used the books: information about the provenance and circulation of the books, about the social, economic, political and cultural life and about historical events.
