Abstract
ABSTRACT A method of selecting the material used for a cylinder liner of an internal combustion engine to increase the thermal efficiency and reducing emissions is an important parameter in the design. The materials with a great number of fine closed and air filled pores are the best heat insulating materials. The cylinder liner is composed of silicon nitride, silicon carbide, silicon oxynitride, silicon aluminum oxynitride, silicon nitride-silicon carbide or aluminum nitride etc.
