THE PRODUCTION POTENTIAL OF AGRICULTURAL LAND IN KOSOVO AND ITS PERSPECTIVE

This paper consists in the analysis of the agricultural land fund in Kosovo, in quality, production potential and food security for the population, but also the challenges facing Kosovo with this strategic resource. Basic properties of the agricultural economy in Kosovo are: continuing reduction of the number of farming households, in addition to this the reduction of the agricultural population, and this shows that the rural environment is undergoing significant socioeconomic processes. Other important features of the agricultural economy and rural environment are: increased productivity per unit of agricultural land on one side, but also endangering the permanent productive land from pollution, landfills and coal surface mining, uncontrolled construction wwithout a plan, frequent floods from unregulated rivers etc.
