Abstract

The article describes experience of applying game technologies at the lesson. These games include mostly grammar and vocabulary board games. “Irregular Verbs” game is designed to master the forms of English irregular verbs and their translation, “Adjectives” is a game for learning comparative and superlative forms, “Grammar Box” aims at grammar skills of students in particular mastering correct usage of Present, Past and Future Simple forms, “Signs” and “Elementary” sets of words are used to broaden vocabulary scope of students. The games by P.Stepichev are complimented with evaluation system developed by J. Novikova. The approbation of the games proved them to be an effective tool for developing communica- tive competence of students, their creative potential and social skills. Applying games at the lessons makes them more effective and boosts motivation of students
