Abstract
Ethnobotany of different tribal communities of Pataru, Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand were studied on the basis of the information from 8 local Vaidyas or medicinal men. All total 38 plants are used by them. Among those, 8 plants are of very common use and for another 30 plants, some new information are added which were not been recorded earlier. The tribal names, botanical names, useable parts and the respective uses are documented. Information regarding type of uses after preparation of medicines are also included. The management practices followed during collection of the plant parts in favor of natural conservation are also discussed.
